 THE REMEMBRANCE PROJECT ANNOUNCES
GROUNDBREAKING VICTIMS’ SUPPORT INITIATIVE

WASHINGTON, DC - Maria Espinoza, Co-founder and National Director of The Remembrance Project, will announce its collaboration with CAREForce.us and The Counseling Team International, two prominent nationwide professional intervention response groups that will provide needed support services to U.S. citizen and legal immigrant families whose loved ones were killed by an illegal alien.  With grief and family counseling as priority needs of surviving families, these peer support and mental health professionals and chaplains will offer immediate holistic care and physical, emotional, cognitive, behavioral and spiritual support to help meet  each family’s unique needs. Services will be provided upon request for immediate point-of-need critical incident intervention response.

Media and friends are invited - RSVP required - to attend this groundbreaking press conference announcement on:

Monday, June 26, 2017

9:00 A.M - 10:00 A.M. at

The National Press Club - Murrow Room

529 14th St NW

Washington, DC 20045

Speakers will include:

Maria Espinoza, National Director of The Remembrance Project will introduce the program and members of her new crisis intervention team.

Chaplain Ruth Johnston Martin, of CAREForce.us, is the widow of slain California Police Officer Don Johnston. Officer Johnston died in 2002 of complications from wounds he sustained in the line of duty, while responding to an incident at an El Monte, CA, bank in 1990. He was shot and rendered paralyzed by an illegal alien. Ruth is an advisory board member to The Remembrance Project.

Dr. Kendra Devor, Psy.D., of The Counseling Team International, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Devor has worked with individuals, couples and families, helping them to restore hope, find solutions and transform their lives. Her personal experiences with military and law enforcement allowed for a seamless transition to working with the population.

Chaplain Shelly Pinomaki, brings her renowned crisis intervention services to CAREForce.US.  In addition to her extensive formal chaplaincy and trauma intervention training and experience, Shelly is a family survivor of one of the most extreme forms of trauma, the brutal murder of her beloved sister in 2011. Her experiences during that time led her to seek ways to transform how families are treated in the aftermath of tragedy.

To initiate outreach by either the counselors or chaplains, victim families may call 1-800-222-9691, where mental health professionals are available to discuss individual and family  needs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Funding for the program will come from future fundraising efforts by, and on behalf of, The Remembrance Project.
